To raise awareness of prostate cancer, support patients and survivors, and encourage all men to get screening tests beginning at age 40, Rabbi Ed Weinsberg has teamed up with several prominent urologists as well as actor Kevin Byrd to launch the National Prostate Cancer Awareness Tour. The tour has made stops in Sarasota, Atlanta, Boston and Baltimore, and will continue in other cities. See the tour schedule below for details.
At the most recent stop in Baltimore, Rabbi Ed was a featured speaker at The Great Prostate Cancer Challenge, one of the largest prostate cancer awareness rallies in America. Other speakers included Dr. Siegel, the CEO of Chesapeake Urology Associates of Baltimore, and an NFL football player who had prostate cancer. The event raised money and awareness for prostate cancer research and is co-sponsored by the Lance Armstrong Foundation and Chesapeake Urology Associates, one of the nation’s largest group practices treating prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer is the second leading cancer in American men, with nearly 200,000 new cases each year. Rabbi Weinsberg addresses the need for prostate cancer screening and describes how men and women already affected by prostate cancer can rekindle their romance, while hastening recovery through humor and faith. His comments are based on his multiple-award winning book, Conquer Prostate Cancer: How Medicine, Faith, Love and Sex Can Renew Your Life, written from his perspective as a prostate cancer survivor, gerontologist and patient healthcare educator.
