I'm delighted to inform our readers that my book, Conquer Prostate Cancer, recently received two awards in the annual Indie Excellence® book awards competition! The book won first place in the Men's Issues category and was a finalist in the Health category.
The Indie Excellence® competition recognizes the best new books by independent publishers and authors. It is judged by an independent panel of experts from all aspects of the publishing industry, including editing, marketing, publicity, and design.
As many of our readers know, I wrote Conquer Prostate Cancer: How Medicine, Faith, Love and Sex Can Renew Your Life, after my successful robotic surgery for prostate cancer in April, 2007. Dr. Robert Carey, a urologist and leading robotic surgeon, contributed to the book, which was published in October, 2008.

So what are the symptoms of Prostate cancer that it's attacking men in such a rampant manner. Aren't there any preventive medications for this?
----Jessica
Most men diagnosed with prostate cancer are symptom-free. However this disease could pose a danger to them if it metastasizes and symptoms like pain and fatigue will arise. While scientists suspect that all cancers possibly stem from infections or other sources, nobody knows what causes one man to get prostate cancer and another not. Until we do we won't be able to find a medication to eliminate prostate cancer. For now the only medicine proven to reduce the risk of getting prostate cancer by 25% is Proscar (avodart). Perhaps stem cell research or laser surgery will be further developed and eventually prove best for curing prostate cancer, but these and other approaches cannot prevent this disease.

No one can ignore the importance of Avodart in shrinking the size of the prostate, lessening the need for surgery for an enlarging prostate, and in improvement of bothersome urinary symptoms.
--You are correct! As a matter of fact researchers indicate that Avodart, as well as Proscar, can reduce the risk of prostate cancer by 25%! However both medications can lead to adverse sexual side effects such as ED and a reduced sex drive (libido).
