When prostate cancer or its treatment leads to stress, laughter is often the best solution - at least momentarily. Laughter has healing properties that can lessen stress, pain and the severity of your illness. That's true not only of prostate cancer but of all forms of cancer and other illnesses.
I'm convinced that laughter not only heals the body and spirit, but removes bariers between individuals. After all, to cite the late, great comic pianist, Victor Borge, "Laughter is the shortest distance between two people."
The next time illness strikes, remember to laugh. Go out of your way to watch a funny show, tell a joke, and kid around with your nurses and doctors and family members when you can.
Even if you end up laughing through tears, you'll be better off. So will your caregivers and those who truly love you.
